This study examines the application of Federal Law No. 12.527, of November 18, 2011 - Access to Public Information Act (LAI) - locus as having the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies and its management body of information, networking and client service user of the Centre of Documentation and Information (CEDI), and in particular the Research Unit (Corpi). It is analyzed in the light of information science, the impact caused by the LAI in the process of providing information and the availability of institutional information to society, in the context of broad access to public information. For the case study was applied an
interview with the staff of the Corpi and their impressions were gathered on the impact of LAI
dynamics of their research, we identified the major perceived problems and their suggestions
for improvement. The study discourses is also, alternatively, on the management of
information as part of the cycle and informational condition for access to information, the
central topic of this research. Also addresses the issue of citizenship and social control, and
the right to information and government transparency underlying the proposed broad access
to public information recommended by LAI, due to the paradigm shift and the information practices, that leads LAI. The study of the effects of LAI within the Chamber was conducted from May to December 2012. The results of this research....
