Seleção de informações na Biblioteca da Câmara dos Deputados

Abstract

Este artigo descreve o acervo atual da Biblioteca da Câmara dos Deputados e avalia os critérios de seleção de documentos contidos em sua Política de Desenvolvimento de Coleções. Utilizaram-se dois levantamentos de dados: um reúne por classes temáticas da Classificação Decimal Universal (CDU) os livros comprados entre os anos 2000 e 2007, o outro reúne por comissões temáticas os projetos de lei (PLs) relatados no mesmo período. Em seguida relacionaram-se os assuntos das comissões com maiores incidências de PLs relatados aos assuntos constantes no documento da Política de Desenvolvimento de Coleções. A conclusão a que se chega é de que os critérios de seleção permitem formar um acervo especializado em Ciências Sociais, com ênfase no Direito; no entanto o acervo formado apresenta desequilíbrios quantitativos entre as classes, subclasses e áreas. Os critérios também permitem, para o período em análise, desenvolver uma coleção bibliográfica cujos assuntos estão em sintonia com a maioria dos temas das comissões permanentes. Ao final é apontada a necessidade de maiores estudos sobre os tipos de informação e fontes importantes para a Câmara dos Deputados.

Describes the current collection of the Library of Câmara dos Deputados and evaluates the criteria for selection of documents contained in its Development Policy Collections. We used data from two surveys: one for classes together themes of Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) books purchased between 2000 and 2007, the other thematic committees meet when the bills (PLs) reported the same period. Then related to the affairs of the committees with higher incidences of PLs reported to the matters contained in the document Policy Collection Development. The conclusion reached is that the selection criteria allow to form a collection specializing in social sciences, with emphasis on the law, yet the collection has formed quantitative imbalances between classes, subclasses and areas. The criteria also allow for the period under review, developing a bibliographic collection whose subjects are in line with most of the themes of standing committees. At the end is pointed to the need for further studies on the types of information and sources for the Câmara dos Deputados.
